See if cracking your bones is healthy.

Crack, Pop and Snap : When you crack your knuckles, what causes the crack? For a long time, we were told cracking our joints caused arthritis. So what is the real story here?

The Chemistry and Physics of Cracking knuckles : Inside the joint capsule of your knuckles is a lubricant, known as synovial fluid, which also serves as a source of nutrients for the cells that maintain the joint cartilage. In addition, the synovial fluid contains dissolved gases, including oxygen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide.

If you take an x-ray of the joint after cracking, you can see a gas bubble inside the joint. This gas increases the joint volume by 15 to 20 percent; it consists mostly (about 80 percent) of carbon dioxide. The joint cannot be cracked again until the gases have dissolved back into the synovial fluid, which explains why you cannot crack the same knuckle repeatedly.

What about Arthiritis? : “It is a myth that cracking your knuckles will cause arthritis,” Dr. Greg Tchejeyan, orthopedic surgeon at Los Robles Hospital told Live Science. “Cracking your knuckles will not cause arthritis. What actually happens is that dissolved gases in the joint fluid are rapidly released, causing the cracking sound.”

What color is on your tube of toothpaste?

Toothpaste – a regular product that we all have at home without spending too much time thinking about it. Because well, whichever one you prefer, they’re all the same right? We brush our teeth with toothpaste because it makes sure our teeth are clean, healthy and strong. However, not everyone is aware which type of toothpaste is right for their teeth.

There are so any different types of toothpaste in the world; whitening toothpaste, anti-cavity toothpaste, toothpaste for sensitive teeth.. you name it! It’s understandable that all these options make it pretty hard to make a good decision.

That is why most of us buy all-in-one toothpaste. You know the ones that are supposed to take care of all of our dental problems at ones. However, did you ever notice that those tubes have a black square on the back? And that is not actually a good thing… Perhaps you may have already noticed that every tube of toothpaste has a colored square on the back. This square can be green, blue, red or black. These colors represent the ingredients that the toothpaste is made out of.

What color is on your tube of toothpaste?

Green square: Do you see a green square on your toothpaste? Then lucky you, that means you’re using a toothpaste that is completely natural!

Blue square: If you see a blue square, that is still good because that means that you’ll find both natural and chemical ingredients in your toothpaste.

Red square: When you see a red square on the back, we have less good news for you because that means your toothpaste is made out of lots of chemicals and as you might suspect that isn’t really good for you teeth.

Black square: The worst type of toothpaste you can use is the one with a black square. These toothpastes are purely made out of chemicals that can really damage your teeth overtime.

So, the best toothpaste you can use to take care of your teeth is the one with a green or blue square on the back! Did you know about this? What color do you find on the back of your toothpaste? Share this article with your friends and family to let them know about this.

KFC Shuts more store in chicken crisis

Delivery problems will mean some KFC outlets will remain closed for the rest of the week, while others will have a reduced menu or shortened hours.

About half the fast food chain’s 900 outlets in its UK-based division were still closed on Tuesday night.

That was fewer than the 575 closed as of Monday evening.

Last week the fried chicken chain switched its delivery contract to DHL, which has blamed “operational issues” for the supply disruption.

Earlier, a KFC spokesperson expected the number of closures to fall in the coming coming days as teams “work flat-out all hours to clear the backlog”.

“Each day more deliveries are being made. However, we expect the disruption to some restaurants to continue over the remainder of the week, meaning some will be closed and others operating with a reduced menu or shortened hours.”

DHL’s managing director of retail, John Boulter, said the delivery firm regretted the “interruption of supply” and apologised for the “inconvenience and disappointment caused to KFC and their customers”.

“The reasons for this unforeseen interruption of this complex service are being worked on with a goal to return to normal service levels as soon as possible,” he added.

“We are committed to step-by-step improvements to allow KFC to reopen its stores over the coming days.”

KFC has set up a web page where customers can find their nearest outlet that is open.

What caused the problems?

Until 13 February, KFC’s chicken was delivered by specialist food distribution group Bidvest.

But after the contract switched to DHL, many of the food giant’s outlets began running out of chicken products.

The GMB union said it had warned KFC that switching from Bidvest to DHL was a mistake. The change led to 255 job losses and the closure of a Bidvest depot, said Mick Rix, GMB national officer.

“Bidvest are specialists – a food distribution firm with years of experience. DHL are scratching around for any work they can get, and undercut them,” he said.

“KFC are left with hundreds of restaurants closed while DHL try and run the whole operation out of one distribution centre. Three weeks ago, KFC knew they had made a terrible mistake, but by then it was too late.”

The distribution network uses software developed by the firm Quick Service Logistics (QSL).

DHL said: “Due to operational issues, a number of deliveries in recent days have been incomplete or delayed. We are working with our partners, KFC and QSL, to rectify the situation as a priority and apologise for any inconvenience.”

A KFC spokesperson said the decision to change supplier had not been taken lightly.

“DHL have estimated that winning the KFC contract and opening the new distribution centre has created 300 new jobs,” he added.

How much is it likely to cost KFC?

KFC’s spokesman said he did not have a figure, but any calculation is likely to be complicated by the fact that 95% of KFC’s outlets in the UK are run by franchisees.

Some media reports say the crisis could be costing the chain £1m a day, but any such figure is likely to be guesswork.

What’s happening to KFC staff?

Workers are being encouraged to take holiday, but would not be forced to do so, the company has said.

It said that in the restaurants owned by the chain, staff on short-term contracts would be paid the average hours worked per day over the past 12 weeks, while those on salaries would be paid as normal.

“Franchisees will be seeking their own independent advice, but we’re encouraging them to adopt this policy too,” said the chain.

A KFC worker in London who contacted the BBC said he had not received any shifts for the past week.

“This problem isn’t our fault, but we are the ones who can’t work.

“I have got bills that come out of my account on Friday and I feel terrible about the whole situation. I am looking for a new job,” he said.

How to Act Around Your Ex

Break-ups rarely lead to what the name promises—a clean break. Much as you may wish to avoid it, there will be situations in which you have to be around your ex. It can be difficult to interact with someone you used to be close to, but there are ways to make it less painful.
1. Be patient.
You’re used to being emotionally and physically intimate with each other, so don’t expect to establish new relationship patterns right away.
  1. Don’t seek your ex out socially, especially at first. Experts recommend taking at least eight weeks without any sort of contact. Seeing your ex right after the breakup can make it more difficult to move on.

Seeing Your Ex Socially

2. Treat your ex as you would treat a colleague.

Be friendly and respectful without indicating too much closeness.

Keep your interactions light. Especially if you have not seen each other in a while, resist the urge to address long-simmering relationship issues

– Him: I did. They need new management.

– You: The relief pitcher looked pretty good. Maybe he should have started.

– Him: Yeah, I didn’t understand that decision.

– You: Well, good seeing you. Hopefully they make it to the post-season.

If your ex brings up a contentious issue, try changing the subject to something you agree on.

– Him: Hi, Melanie. Did you try the pierogies?

– You: I did. They remind me of the ones your mom always made.

– Him: How would you know? You never went to visit her.

– You: I think we both appreciated her cooking.

– Him: That’s true.

3. Avoid alcohol.

Emotions will already be riding high. If you’re drinking, you’ll be less inhibited and more likely to say something that you’ll regret.

4. Disengage from your ex online.

Unfriend him on Facebook and avoid him on other forms of social media. Yes, keeping tabs on an ex online is tempting—you want to know if he is miserable without you, if he has started dating someone new, etc. Research shows that it is better to avoid this temptation, though.

  – It’s easy for these behaviors to get obsessive, turning into what psychologists call “interpersonal electronic surveillance” and the rest of us call Facebook stalking.

– It’s also bad for your own emotional health. Like seeing your ex in person, interacting with him online can make the heartbreak last longer.

 – If you do insist on continuing to follow your ex on social media, remember that what you are seeing is a highly selective view of his life. Don’t think that you’re struggling more than he is just because he doesn’t post about it.

5. Tread cautiously when trying to be friends.

Many people want to stay friends after a breakup, which makes sense—you enjoyed being around your ex at one point, and he was a large part of your social life. Why shouldn’t you continue to act as you did before, going to baseball games together, calling him to vent about your boss, or asking for his jacket when you get cold? Plenty of reasons, it turns out.

– Maintain physical and emotional distance to avoid ambiguity. Behaviors like flirting and touching can cause confusion for both of you.

– Limit your interactions. You shouldn’t be checking in multiple times a day, or even once every day. It’s fine to be friends, but your ex should not be the person you turn to first with good or bad news.

 – You should not pursue a friendship with your ex as a guise for trying to get him back. If you want to rekindle the romance and he does not, you are better off cutting off contact entirely.

6. Don’t let your relationship affect special occasions.

With overlapping social circles, you and your ex will likely run into each other at special occasions including birthday parties, graduations, and weddings, probably for years to come. Be prepared for this inevitability.

  1. Don’t ignore each other at big events, but don’t sit together, either. If you’re not on the best terms, you run the risk of making a scene. Plus, don’t want to have to answer questions all night long about whether you two are back together.
  2. Divide up smaller events. You can both go to your friend’s play, but you might not both want to go to the intimate dinner she’s having afterward. No one likes to miss out on fun events, but it can be preferable to the alternative of a huge confrontation.
